Initial Visit

Initial Visit

During your initial visit, the doctor will perform a health history and physical exam.  Part of your health history will include paperwork, which provides background information.  Please plan to arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to fill them out.

Patient History

Dr. Schaller will ask you questions to find out more information regarding your health.  For example, some common questions include:

When did the pain start?
Where do you feel the pain?
Was this due to an accident or injury?
What makes the pain worse?
What makes it better?

It is helpful to have any previous exam results with you at your appointment for Dr. Schaller to review.

Physical Exam

The physical exam may include specific orthopedic and neurological tests to assess range of motion, muscle strength/tone and posture.  We do not perform x-rays at our office.  If x-rays or MRI’s are necessary, we are happy to refer you to Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin or to their office in Waterbury. We also refer to Vermont Open MRI.

Plan on about an hour for your initial visit.

A treatment may include, but is not limited to, stretching, deep tissue work, adjustments, electric stimulation, heat or cold packs, ultrasound, and/or therapeutic exercises.

After the exam, we will schedule your follow up visit.  Follow up visits are typically between 30-45 minutes.

If at any time you have questions or concerns regarding your treatment at our office, please let us know.
